The realisation of Gender Mainstreaming in Austrian labour market and employment policy

The Coordination Unit for Gender Mainstreaming in the European Social
Fund (ESF) – in short GeM Coordination Unit – was established in 2000. Its
establishment and effect were to be seen in context with the so-called ESF
Structural Fund period 2000-2006. The Federal Ministry of Economics and Labour
established the Coordination Unit for Gender Mainstreaming in the European
Social Fund (ESF), in order to support the implementation of Gender
Mainstreaming in the ESF. The GeM Coordination unit has compiled the following
report, in order to document experiences and selected results simultaneously
with the phasing-out of the Structural Fund period, gained up to now during
realisation of Gender Mainstreaming within the area of labour market and
employment policy. For this purpose, an overview of the current experiences
gained during implementation of Gender Mainstreaming in Austria was
provided, in particular concerning those institutions relevant for the ESF.
