The day care for children of employed parents in Austria

Back in 2008/2009 L&R Social Research already carried out a research
study on behalf of the Vienna Chamber of Labour, examining the daycare of
children aged 5-14 years, whose parents work on the basis of a full-time
employment. This follow-up project continued this work. The focus was set on
the daycare of children in the respective age group. This study examined the different form(s) of childcare used and the
parents’ valuations.

This study has the character of a representative
survey. 1,200 full-time and part-time employed mothers were asked about the
form(s) of childcare they use, about their motives to do so and about aspects of
quality. Another issue tackeled was the daycare during holiday season.
