Securing employment and income in rural areas

This study surveyed the situation of young people in a
rather peripheral region in Austria (NUTS 3 westliche Obersteiermark). It was examined, how the 15-25-year-old adolescents of the region relate to issues
of education and job and which offers they miss.
For this purpose, relevant data were processed, regional experts for youth and labour politics were involved and
young people themselves were interviewed. The survey aimed to develop a basis
for the conceptionalisation of labour market projects for this target group.
The study was carried out in cooperation with
the Federal Institute for Less Favoured and Mountainous Areas.
