Employment situation of people with a migrant background

This research project focused on a representative study of the situation of migrants on the Vienna employment market. The target group of the analysis were migrants in Vienna who are members of the Chamber of Labour. In this context the term “migrant” was not only used according to its legal definition, but it also includes naturalised people and second-generation migrants. The research project was divided into seven focus areas:

  • Migration background and immigration situation
  • Employment situation
  • Burdens and disadvantages in working life
  • Qualifications and further education
  • Language skills
  • Reconciliation of work and private life
  • Lobby

The survey also included a specific consideration of members of ethnic minorities with a special focus on the analysis of the situation of Romani and Kurds.
