Austrian-Slovenian Expert Academy

The Austrian-Slovenian Expert Academy is a cross-border discussion and development forum in the field of labour market policy which particularly aims at preparing the border regions of the two countries for the challenges ahead. The start-up phase, since 2007, has included work on essential labour market topics that are relevant both for Slovenia and Austria and for the development of reliable modes of cooperation that have brought together the ministries in charge as well as labour market services, social partners and institutions of further education in the border regions.
In the start-up phase of the Austrian-Slovenian Expert Academy, the Wisdom Institute was responsible for managing the processes. Besides L&R Social Research, IFA Carinthia was also an operational partner of this cooperation. Since 2009, L&R Social Research is responsible for managing the project.
Among others, the following central issues were dealt with in the framework of the cooperation until the end of 2008:

  • Structures of labour market service institutions
  • Active labour market policy in general and, more specifically, policies concerning es-pecially disadvantaged target groups
  • Cooperation of labour market service institutions with companies
  • Problems, concepts and measures in the field of further education relevant for labour market policies
