New self-employed in Vienna. Employment trend, occupational data and support requirements.

There are already representative findings for the new self-employed
economic sector in Vienna, concerning socio-demography, income, workload,
circumstances and employment situation of these persons. Little light has
however been shed on the employment effect of this type of occupation, on the
sustainability of the business establishment processes and on the need for
support or assistance, during the establishment of enterprises by new
self-employed persons. Furthermore, only nationwide data on business size and
branches of the new self-employed are currently available. This survey aimed at
resolving these information gaps. In the scope of a representative questioning
of new self-employed persons in Vienna, missing specifications were compiled
and analysed against the background of the survey results of a comparison group
of commercial micro- and small businesses.
