Qualitative evaluation of the FiT programme in Lower Austria

The programme “Women in Trades and Technology (FiT)” was an important element of the women’s employment policy programme 2006-2010 of the Public Employment Service (AMS). In 2009 L&R Social Research has undertaken the Austria-wide evaluation of the FiT programme for AMS Austria.
For Lower Austria an additional qualitative analysis was conducted in order to examine more closely the career of FiT participants after having completed their training as well as the assessment of the training and of the current working situation of the women by using single case studies. For this purpose, both a graduate of the FiT training who is employed in a technical or trades profession and a representative of the company were interviewed for each of the ten single case studies. The report on the single case studies contrasted the statements from the different perspectives and presented them together.
