Migrants in Vienna – 2014

In the years 2010/2011, and commissioned by the Austrian Chamber of Labour, L&R Social Research conducted a study of the employment situation of persons with a migrant background on the Viennese employment market. The results of the study show that migrants come with different kinds of potential and find themselves with differing conditions on the employment market.

In terms of methodology, the following migrant study was a continuation of this predecessor study, while shifting and delving deeper into the focal points of the content. On the one hand, thematic areas of the predecessor study were considered in greater depth (e.g. qualification and further education); on the other hand, completely new thematic areas were also included (e.g. housing situation, consumer protection).

The survey – which in terms of methodology is a continuation of the 2010/2011 migrant study – targeted migrants who are members of the Vienna Chamber of Labour. Also as a continuation of the predecessor study, the situation of Roma/Romnia and Kurds was separately addressed and analysed. In order to be able to identify the results as more or less specific to the different migrants, members of the Vienna Chamber of Labour without a migrant background were also included in the study.
