Labour market policy related Transfer of know-how in South East Europe based on the strategy Europe 2020 or strategy for the Danube Region

Unemployment is a problem in all countries of the Danube region, although some Western EU states, such as Austria, have a thoroughly effective active labour market policy that can also achieve considerable integration successes. In line with the Danube Region Strategy and the Europe 2020 Strategy, an increase in effectiveness in the areas of qualification, activation and occupational integration in all countries of the Danube Region is of essential importance for the further development and cohesion of this European macro-region.

Southeastern Europe is to a large extent in a process of rapprochement with the European Union and needs targeted support to successfully cope with the restructuring that is taking place. The countries in this region may have access to the EU’s IPA programmes on a case-by-case basis for the major changes. However, each of these programmes run for several years and are not suitable to address a short-term need for advice and information. This gap is now to be closed by the present project.

It is a modular project for the transfer of labour market policy know-how to South Eastern European countries in order to support their efforts to improve the employment situation and the integration of job seekers through a broad, flexible range of advisory and information measures.
