Posting of Workers, wage dumping: quantitative and qualitative developments in Austria

This research builds on the results of three studies, conducted by L&R social research on behalf of the Camber of Labour Vienna. All of them dealt with the impact of labour market liberalization as well as employment patterns and wage dumping. The end of the transitional arrangements for workers from Romania and Bulgaria by 1.1.2014 is the reason to continuously monitor recent developments within this field. The new study focuses on four main points, which will be analysed by a multi-method approach containing quantitative as well as qualitative elements:

1. Analyses of the employees of foreign origin
2. Analysis of the labour market situation in the relevant countries of origin
3. Analysis of the evolution of postings to Austria, especially from EU-8 and EU-2 nationals
4. Research and analysis of the dimension of wage and social dumping by undertaking case studies and interviewing employers, enterprises and works councils
