Gender Analysis of the Support Programme INiTS

In Austria foundations are still male dominated. Especially when focusing on start-ups within the technology industry this impact is enhanced by the strong horizontal segregation. Simultaneously this industry is one of the most dynamic fields concerning start-ups. Thus, the low proportion of women within the technology sector also manifests itself in the start-up scene.

This is why the study at hand examined foundation programmes from a gender specific point of view. Therefore, INiTS provided their anonymous project database. INiTS is the high-incubator of the Vienna Business Agency and the (Technical) University of Vienna.
Analyses have shown that the gender inequalities of the start-up scene in general can also be found within their foundation programme AplusB Scale-up. Considering people who have been invited to a first interview as well as people who already finished all milestones the proportion of women in each case only amounts to 16%.
